Selangor, November 2018:  Malaysia Business Radio Station BFM89.9 recently celebrated its 10th anniversary and took the opportunity of the occasion to relocate to a spacious and elegantly designed new office and studio facilities at Menara Ken, TTDI Kuala Lumpur.

BFM89.9 is Malaysia’s only independent radio station strategically focused on business, financial markets and current affairs.  It has gained popularity with its listeners by being a vocal but unbiased channel that touches on discourse-based topics in politics, entrepreneurship, health, fashion, arts, sports, music and education.

With the growth of BFM89.9 since its inception 10 years ago, the move from the former office in Bandar Utama to the new radio facilities at Menara Ken was inevitable.  And with that growth, and the needs of the ever-changing broadcast industry, BFM89.9 underwent a revolutionary digital upgrade and transformed itself with a sophisticated interior design concept.  Stagetec Asia joined BFM89.9’s dynamic team as the main system integrator and equipment supplier in planning, designing and executing the relocation of new studios.

A total of five new studios and five other ancillary rooms i.e. video, production, talent booth, news, and producer rooms together with one MCR (Main Control Room) were constructed and integrated with the latest industry standard digital radio broadcast equipment, providing the very best to meet the growing demands of the station and beyond.

The two main studios were completed and commissioned in September 2018 with the DHD 52 Series Mixers and is fully integrated with a “Sonifex” profanity delay, Telos Telephone Hybrid and the Adam Audio Active Monitoring Speakers.  The communication between producers and radio presenters in both live studios were reinforced utilising the “Sonifex” confidence monitors that were installed in the producer room, thereby enabling greater control over the live programs that went on air.

The other three studios are used as preparation rooms, where most of the interview sessions are recorded and produced to be aired later. The Master Control Room has been fitted with the latest Digital Radio Router, which provides comprehensive control logics, central & studio switching and monitoring of any signal in the entire system by the Stagetec “Nexus” system with audible and visualisation functionality.

“The choice was simple,” said, David Chew, BFM 89.9’s head of engineering services. “We were looking to expand our capabilities from our old facilities to one that would suit our requirements and also have room for expansion, while being ready for the future as well.”

“Stagetec provided us with the confidence in ensuring that our demands were met in all counts. As we are an independent radio station without big budgets, we had to work doubly hard to be certain that we were getting the right equipment, the right service and most importantly, at the right price!”, adds David.

Mr. Malek Ali also echoes David’s remarks, “Advon and his team has been able to consistently meet our needs and in ensuring our satisfaction with the investment into the new facilities.”

Stagetec Asia is honoured to be a part of the growth and development of BFM89.9 over the years.

Stagetec Asia Managing Director, Mr Advon Tan remarked “We extend our sincere congratulations to BFM89.9 on their accomplishment in launching the new office and radio facilities which was initiated by the Communications and Multimedia Minister YB Gobind Singh Deo.  Stagetec Asia is thankful and proud to be their preferred technical advisor and supplier.
